CNV1-I1-15-Executive Health
Most people know many intricate details of their i-Phones, Apple laptops, Bose Sound system, BMW cars etc. but seldom know their own bodies. The human body is the most sophisticated gadget on the planet but people preoccupied in the pursuit of career progression, material comforts and accumulation of wealth seldom find time to read even the ‘users manual’.
This gadget works in clockwise precision but if it is not serviced at regular intervals it leads to emergence of Life Style Diseases. The study conducted by the Economic Times in 2013 reveals that Indian Corporate Executives putting in long hours at work struggling to achieve tight deadlines and stretched targets lead to the two most common Life Style Diseases viz. Cardiovascular Disorders and Type II Diabetes (Eco. Times, Mumbai, 28th Feb. 2013). For simplicity let us call them heart diseases and diabetes respectively. As per the available information on WHO site these two diseases are most common in the world. However, medical experts feel that timely detection of above diseases and right health management can go a long way in helping patients lead a normal life.
India’s most valuable gift to the world is ‘Yoga’. It is proved, by the researches done in prominent universities, that yoga provides a wonderful means to have perfectly healthy citizens. That is why, UNO had declared that from 2015 onwards International Yoga Day will be celebrated on every 21st June. Yoga provides almost complete health shield as it believes that prevention is better than cure.
From the vast treasure of ‘Yoga’ system, here is a simple but very effective health tool called ‘Mudra’ for complete health shield from these two diseases.
WHAT IS MUDRA?
I feel in the fast-paced life of modern corporate manager, he hardly has time to either visit a gymnasium or a health spa or a yoga studio. Yet, he wishes to have a reasonably good health. He should think of practicing mudras for a minimum 15 minutes everyday.
Mudra is the definite way of holding one’s fingers for a prescribed time. They are called Hastamudras means definite way of holding fingers. There are another kind of Mudras in which one has to hold certain body postures for a prescribed time. These are not discussed here.
The five fingers of our palm represent the five basic elements of which human body, and is made up of. (www.https://en.m.wikipedia.org)
Mudras act as corrective remote control switches. By proper use of mudras essential mental, spiritual and physical changes in the human body can easily be brought about without any external aid. Mudras can bring changes in one’s body chemistry, sentiments, thoughts and deeds. Mudras can even be practised lying in bed, sitting on a chair or while walking. So, there is a great amount of relaxation for those who don’t like to get tied up in meditative posture for performing mudras.
